About Dom Goscinny UJ at Przegorzaly
The Dom Goscinny is a dangerous mini-bus climb up a steep, winding
cobblestone road about 5km from the center of Krakow. It's garish red brick and concrete exterior opens up onto an absurd central courtyard,
neither functional nor pleasant. The interior feels like a mix between a prison, a really cheap conference center, and a student dorm (it actually is the latter two).
The rooms are bare bones, but comfortable, with private bathroom and shared kitchen. Prices are laughably low.
Highlights include:
-The Przegorzaly castle 100m away. A former Nazi Luftwaffe headquarters with swastika-fountain intact in the lobby. (UPDATE: the fountain has since been unceremoniously smashed/ dismantled and removed from the lobby :( So much for preserving WWII heritage)
-The Wolski Forest. Rolling hills, dozens of km of hiking, wild boars and deer, and a zoo.
-Management and staff are authentic grumpy locals!
