About Bookfinders
Is it just me that thinks coffee and books is the best combination on the planet?
Situated in sight of the university this cafe/second-hand bookstore greets you with a dingy facade that is replicated inside. On entrance you are surrounded from floor to ceiling with a rainbow of book spines covering all topics from politics to poetry. Venturing further into the gloom you come across the cafe adorned by a multitude of posters and portraits. It is always colder inside than out on the street, which is a hard during the Belfast winter, and there are plenty of places to get a better coffee, but I just can't stop returning. A mecca for creatives rather than the student masses the lady that runs it is as bohemian as they come; you may find her sitting with friends drinking wine but she will always be very helpful. There is a modest menu of sandwiches, soups and pasta for lunch and lunchtime can get busy, whilst solitude can often be found either side of the mid-day meal. Chess and scrabble can be enjoyed in quiet surroundings or just come to while away the afternoon chatting or with a good book. Prices are reasonable – sandwiches under £3, coffee (with refills) £1.50. A place I visit to seek inspiration and a place that I leave with new ideas.
