About Arirang

Communal dining is one of the great things about Asian cooking, whether you're sharing full dishes on a lazy susan or a bubbling steamboat in the manner of shabu shabu or hot pot. A Korean barbecue is much like the latter. Raw ingredients, particuarly beef are served and diners are able to cook their dinner on a piping-hot grill just as they like it. If your beef is of high quality - the rarer the better!
Arirang restaurant has two locations in Hong Kong, with its Harbor City location claiming the title as being the first Korean restaurant in the city in 1964. In 1983 they introduced the first smokeless barbecue tables, meaning that after leaving Arirang the flavour of your meal will remain in your stomach and not on your clothes.
I visited the Times Square location of Arirang in the shopping centre's Food Forum. The place was full of friends, families, and couples having a great time over their barbecue proving that food isn't just about filling up. We ordered slices of beef, squid, and an assortment of raw vegetables. The selection of banchan (tiny, primarily vegetarian side dishes) was incredible and delicious, from the classic kimchi to the marinated vegetables.
Our meal was tasty, fun, and authentic - what more could you ask of any restaurant?
