About Spasso

Situated atop the impressive Ocean Centre shopping centre, within the Harbour Centre shopping centre (there are a lot of shopping centres in Hong Kong...) is Spasso, a classy Italian bar and restaurant. Why eat Italian food in China you ask? Well after 10 days of eating Chinese, Japanese, and Korean food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, you also might have developed a craving for pasta.
So, while the restaurant also includes an indoor seating area, the terrace is by far the highlight experience. Overlooking the western coast of the Kowloon peninsula, it's the perfect place to relax after a long day of intensive Hong Kong-style shopping. The mild weather means that even on a windy winter night a simple patio heater is all you need to keep things going.
The menu at Spasso was clearly well thought out by the Italian chef, though the servers might need a little more training, particularly in the world of beer as I ordered a pilsner and got a German wheat beer - they look quite a bit different, no? The irony is that practically all Chinese beers are pilsners... I should have just ordered a Tsing Tao!
I think my whole group had a real leafy greens craving as we all ended up ordering the same salad. Spinach leaves arrived with walnuts and slices of brie-like cheese - delicious.
In the end a great place to relax with a glass of wine and a decent bit of Italian grub within the glass jungle of Hong Kong.
