You may not visit Pauza every weekend, or even every month, but I can only imagine the massive outcry by Krakowians if this institution was to ever close down. Luckily rather than closing down Pauza continues to vertically expand and now includes a cellar club, a first floor bar, and a second floor gallery and cinema. The main draw, however, remains the original Pauza cafe and bar which is renowned for its cool clients and laid back atmosphere. The music is hip but remains unobtrusive during the week, switching to upbeat electronica on the weekends. Another perennial bonus at Pauza are the prices and it's certainly no surprise that with mixed drinks often under 10 zloty, the bar is constantly brimming with customers. Pauza also regularly shows the work of artists (photographers in particular) - a trend which continues upstairs to the more avant-garde gallery and cinema. In the cellar below is Pauza's newest addition - the Pauza Club. An expensive sound system and a designated dance floor means this Pauza is all about the music, and true enough the club promotes the most cutting edge dance music around. There's no doubt that at this cultural mecca experiencing a typical Krakow night is as easy as starting from the top and working your way down.
