About Taawa

On my way into Taawa I was, for the first time in this laid back city, starting to feel a little worried about my appearance. Considering my scuffed shoes, wrinkled coat and shaggy hair I realized that perhaps my usual attempt at effortless rock chic (at least that's how it looks in my head) might be misinterpreted here. That's not to say I was dying to get in and mix with the city's clubbing elite – I just had to write this review, dammit. Sucking in my pride (and my gut) I shoved my nose high into the air and nonchalantly breezed through the doors. Stepping into the main room I couldn't help but be taken aback by the light show before my eyes. The entire club was wrapped in an incredible swirl of glowing screens, not to mention completely carpeted. The owners of Taawa must have sunk a pretty penny into making this first floor club a unique space, particularly in this city of sweaty cellar clubs. Expensive looking decor was complemented by expensive looking people, but the open space and the stiff clientele made Taawa seem a little uptight - quite a change from most other spots in Kazimierz. Mixed drinks were disappointing with the mint in my rather bland mojito seemingly suffering from a touch of leprosy. Then again if you're the kind of person that likes this kind of straight-faced clubbing scene, you'll easily avoid Taawa's lack of mixing skills by simply forking out 1,250 zloty for a bottle of Dom Perignon.
