About Ceska Piwnica
Thinking we had found an ideal haven from the wintry weather, we went downstairs and settled in on the leather sofas sent down by a higher power. A few minutes later, the order had been placed for hot mead all round and we were impatiently anticipating their warming glow.
When we were given a cup of piping hot mulled wine each instead, the sense of disappointment and confusion was outweighed by the sense that this was a small problem, now doubt swiftly and easily fixed. How wrong we were…
With our waitress seemingly occupied elsewhere, we informed the barman of the mistake and were assured the girl in question would be with us soon to sort things out. Alas, this turned out to have a different meaning to that expected and, after an unsavoury argument about which of us had actually placed the order and what had been said, it was clear that the best we could hope for was to enjoy our wine and then leave with little intention of returning.
That said however, with a bit more instruction in the ‘customer is king’ school of thought, Ceska Pivnica could be considered well worth a visit, particularly if the sofas aren’t taken.
