About The Phoenix

The Phoenix is a true gem of old style 19th century Scottish pub. Meet the dregs and the 'aristocracy' of bonnie Dunders all under one happy-go-lucky roof. Giant stuffed bulls head on the wall and a rather intruiging old enamel sign which mysteriously reads 'Ask yor bootmaker for COCK', apparently an old type of dubbin for waterproofing leather. Great place to meet arty drinkers from the nearby arts centre and art school up the road. This bar is one of four reasons I might consider moving back to Scoland.
