Cafe LAROUSSE
About Cafe LAROUSSE
The café’s name comes from a French company specialising in dictionaries and encyclopaedias; pages from an old illustrative encyclopaedia ornament the walls beautifully. The French theme continues with the rest of the décor from the tables, over which unprotected light bulbs hang dangerously low, to the beautiful old chest that stands proudly at the back of the room.
The menu is limited (which is fairly understandable) but it does host the usual teas and coffees. Also on offer are some more intriguingly sounding beverages such as the mexico coffee. Prices are very good for the city centre; coffees start at 5zł whilst teas are from 3.75zł.
In this oasis of serenity you soon forget about the hectic city lurking outside the door. A radio behind the bar disseminates dialogue rather than music, which adds to the relaxed mood. If you need an escape from work or the tourist trail then it is worth a visit.
They say good things come in small packages, but just make sure you use the loo beforehand, of course La Rousse is too small to have one.

i love this cafe, but it's so small it can be a bit awkward when it's just me and one employee! maybe a little too intimate...
