About Madam Mams

Walking into MM's you wouldn't expect much: The place has kind of a dinery feel to it and the wall coverings are fairly heavy on the kitsch side. If price was a reliable indicator of quality, you may even walk out after opening the menu (especially after you realize that they don't serve any alcohol).

Those who stick around for the food to arrive, however, will see the place in an entirely different light. The decorations are indeed quirky, though authentic; and the upside-down-parasol-studded ceiling adds a touch of whimsy and color to the unassuming but surprisingly comfortable setting. The food is very tasty and pretty darn close to the real deal (so I'm told by those who have first-hand knowledge in this area) and, as mentioned before, shockingly inexpensive. Lovers of spicy food will find themselves becoming regulars here, with dishes ranging from zero to five peppers (and "two pepper" will make your eyes water). The relaxed setting makes it great for dates, quick get-togethers and informal business lunches. Finally, the lack of booze on the menu is actually an invitation for you to bring your own poison... So you can match your Pad Spaghetti Kee mao to your favorite wine/beer/vodka on your next visit!

You also may want to visit the original location on The Drag (by the UT campus) but be prepared to fight the student crowd (good + cheap + byob = legions of youths).

Well, I have to say it is a brilliant review now! Sorry I was so harsh first time around - I'll try to get the rating changed to a 5/5 - which is what this deserves! Cheers!
