About Higher Ground
Higher Ground is not in Boston but rather it is in Burlington, Vermont and on behalf of all Vermonters I demand that Viatribe add Vermont to its US database! That is all....
Actually no it isn't, to punctuate my point let me tell you all about this legendary music venue. Having just relocated to a larger venue closer to Burlington the venue continues its long stated mission of bringing quality music to the masses. For more than 2 decades now Higher Ground has been organizing concerts and festivals spanning every genre, style and sentiment. With this said Higher Ground was one of the key venues in the East Coast that helped to cultivate the so called "Jam Band" scene in the late 80's and this has carried all the way through to this day. Higher Ground was where the Burlington based Phish got their start and effectively was their launching pad (they eventually became the most successful touring band since the Grateful Dead). HG has always embraced diversity, innovation and has maintained strong ties to the local artistic community, a trait which is exceedingly rare for commercial venues. The atmosphere is always electric and one of Higher Ground's best features is that its well stocked and jovial bar has numerous local micro brews (oh how I miss you magic hat) on tap!
