This is a small town jazz joint that has the kind of worked in homespun atmosphere that sucks you in and beckons you to share a drink with one of the countless work weary barflies. It's the kind of place that is the cultural crossroads of the town as much as it is the last resort for most down and out drunken fools. No less than four nights a week they have live music gigs happening either down stairs in their cozy concert corner or up stairs in the main room where the grande piano holds court waiting to be coaxed into action. Over the last 30 years the Press Room has hosted countless International Jazz, blues, folk and occasional rock acts but its main mission has been to foster the musical seeds of local bands and musicians. Along with Music they are also one of the few venues around to host occasional stand up comedy gigs and poetry readings. On top of all this they have some great eats to satisfy that burning yurning. Sandwhiches bar aps and some classic entrees are available most of the day and the late night menu will help fuel that late night jam session, if you dig. The Press Room is more than a bar, more than a music venue and certainly more than a restaurant it is quite simply - an institution. Get there.
