About Ravenous
As tempting as it is to begin a review of a Creperie with some sort of cheap pun... I batter not. Ravenous displays exactly why the French not only lay claim to the greatest food in the world but why they also have the best "street food". Although many cultures claim the crepe (flat pancake) as there own, it was indeed the french that elevated it to a dish of prestige by stuffing so many damn tasty things inside it. Ravenous keeps with this grande tradition and offer 13 savory crepes and 13 sweet crepes plus perfectly pretentious but ridiculously delicious pomme frittes that have very little to do with their american cousins (frittes are cooked twice in peanut oil and served with a choice of 7 hybrid mayo aioli dipping sauce). Truth be told however, this isn't truly a classically french place as they borrow from Italian, Indian, and (hold on to your beret) even New York cuisine to fill their crepe menu. You can't really hold it against them however as almost every single option is delectable in its own way. The Taj Mahal and Bretagne crepes our my recs but all are worth a try. Being a College town, all of the crepes and frittes are available "to go" and you can even call in an order from your dorm room between "study" sessions. Bottom line - if you are looking for something quick, cheap, tasty, and/or semi French in downtown Saratoga Springs, you can't do much batter (sorry) than Ravenous.
