Show me the way to the next Tyskie Bar... This new restaurant/ music club is the 3rd and largest Lizard King franchise to open in Poland after Poznań and Łodz. The club opened its doors in June '08 and like its older brothers it fashions itself as a down and dirty blues and rock club with a dash of jazz to pull in the in crowd. They host live music from Thursday to Saturday and unlike most other music clubs in Krakow’s old town they actually have a real stage with professional sound and lights. They also blow other Krakow clubs out of the water in terms of capacity as the former movie theatre has seating for over 330 people (and easily over 2,000 lizards) spread over 3 balconies a main hall and numerous side rooms. From the middle of August they will also have a fully functional kitchen that will serve up an intercontinental mix of grilled meets and bar food classics. In just the first couple of months the Lizard king has hosted several huge concerts of Polish Classic Rock including a barnstorming TSA gig. In the fall they are planning to host other such legends of Polish rock including Lady Pank, Malenczuk and Dzem plus several other international stars. But fear not ye young axe slingers because they are also open to younger bands although they are clear that they are not open to any new sounds. So if your rock band needs a prefix to describe your music (ie experimental, indie, art, post etc.) this probably isn’t the place for you.
