- Czerwone Drzwi means 'The Red Door' in Polish, and indeed the threshold's bright scarlet paint job is the easiest way to identify this charismatic cafe restaurant as you walk down Piwna Street. Meticulously laid tables and liveried waiters would make this a rather too formal place for my liking, but luckily these are offset by a scattering of comfy couches and some incredibly kitsch landscapes and pop art hanging on the walls. The food is superb and the smoked salmon salad (with a raspberry sauce dressing) was just what I needed to keep my vitamin quotient up during the recent Heineken Open'er Festival. And if the staff minded serving a smelly raver amidst their rather more upmarket clientele they disguised it well, even when a dropped a huge slab of butter on their sofa. I think I got most of it off with a napkin.
