Massimos
- Pretty much the best food you can get in Bulawayo. Hidden in a corner of what answers for a 'shopping centre' in Bulawayo, which is, frankly, a scruffy bunch of tired-looking '60's office blocks, Massimo's (known by locals as 'Maxi's) is a little gem of an Italian restaurant with unbelievable food and service, and truckloads of character. A word of advice - don't argue with the owner Massimo - an Italian former mercenary from the Congo who basically eyes the customers over before deciding who and who not to let in. Think of him as a sort of bouncer / maitre d' - and if you are allowed it, don't forget to ask for the ice-cream with hot chocolate sauce dessert - served to you by no less than Massimo himself, chocolate melted and flambed at your table!

I didn't have a photo of the restaurant so I have added a picture of the town! Note how wide the streets are - they were made like this so it would be possible to turn around a full span of oxen pulling carriages!
