Antonio Caffe surprised this ex-Kazimierz-dweller who first thought it was some over-priced italian-themed tourist-trap, but last spring found what turned out to be the most interesting cafe on Plac Wolnica (not that there's much choice on this underused and underappreciated square in Kazimierz). The ultra modern decor, all reds and sleekness, with fashion photography on the walls and nicely designed modern furniture matched by fashion and design magazines waiting to be perused, is presented maybe a bit pretentiously but is definitely one of a kind. Also one of a kind is (a) the beautiful wooden sliding doors of the sexy modern washrooms and (b) the astonishing dome-covered courtyard space which makes you feel like you're in the movie Total Recall, although instead of a Martian landscape on the other side of the window, you see a dilapidated old Kazimierz courtyard.
Fair prices, nice-ish staff, and tourists, amongst Italian-looking slovenly-yet-sexy older gentlemen, amongst students preparing for their thesis defence...
