Without doing that much special Carpe Diem has successfully managed to persuade everyone that it is the place to be in Hvar, which of course quickly becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. A nice trick if you can pull it off. Wealthy yacht-setters like to be seen here and tough face control means they won't be bothered by the riff raff. If you're more pauper than princely then don't embarrass yourself by rocking up unannounced. Instead go down in the afternoon, looking respectable, and ask if you can put your name on the list. Once in you'll find a good-looking crowd, in a great-looking venue, that once in a while truly lives up to the hype.
