About Manneken Pis Vlaamse Frites

Named after a bronze fountain sculpture located in Brussels of (what else) a little boy peeing, this take-out frites joint is the tastiest answer to your late-night Amsterdam munchies.
Located conveniently in the heart of Amsterdam on the Damrak, between the Nieuwendijk shopping street and the Red Light district, Manneken Pis is the best place in Amsterdam to sample this region's specialty - chips drenched in mayonnaise. This location is just a few windows onto the street with two staff members - one takes the orders and the other prepares your meal by throwing in those fat homemade-style chips into paper cones. Tiny wooden forks are on hand for those who would don't enjoy licking the salty grease from their fingers.
There are plenty of other options in terms of toppings (curry sauce, tartar sauce?), but who can say no to the classic mayo? Watch out with the sizes though, even the small is huge enough to leave you heaving.
