I'm not a Madrid expert, which is probably why on my one visit to the capital I ended up playing it safe with a trip to Pacha, one of the biggest, oldest and most famous venues in the city. Actually, compared to Pacha in Ibiza it was a bit of a letdown as the gladiatorial arena-style layout of the club, along with old-school podiums and lasers, gave it a distinctly nineties vibe. At least it was considerably cheaper than its Balearic counterpart. In short, although a good night was had by all, I reckon with a bit more local knowledge we'd have found a funkier fiesta.
