- Better to be a bit too cool for school, than not quite cool enough, I always say, and it seems the management at Alphabet appear to share my motto. Whilst the ground floor appears much the same as any London bar, with wood-panelling aplenty and low leather sofas, in the downstairs section punters will find an abundance of zany seating and curious artwork on the walls and floor, giving the bar the famous 'shabby chic' look which it claims to have coined. One plus point I do remember is that Alphabet started serving tasty Asian beers, such as Asahi, long before the rest of London joined in. Not sure that counts for much now.
